San Ramón Municipal Library “Patricio Stenstrom”

The San Ramón library, or “Biblioteca Municipal Patricio Stenstrom” was founded in 1992. It is named after a Chilean boy who was adopted by a Swiss couple. Tragically, he passed away from a childhood disease, and his parents decided to complete a project in Latin America to honor his memory. Many countries competed, but a project for a local library in San Ramón won the award.

Over the years, SCSRN has supported the library in multiple forms: salaries for librarians, donation of bookshelves and furniture, donation of books, even fumigation to prevent moths. The 2017-18 Fiscal Year was our last year for supporting the library with salaries and furniture repair, as the San Ramón City Hall has now incorporated the cost of the library in its annual budget.
