Anjie is first and foremost an educator. She is originally from Mississippi, but now is a permanent resident of Matagalpa, Nicaragua. She came to Nicaragua in 2008 as a Peace Corps volunteer with an assignment to train English teachers. She worked closely with the Ministry of Education to train teachers and publish a textbook based on the national English curriculum for high school. Later she worked for five years at the Matagalpa branch of the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN-FAREM). Her favorite part about working with SCSRN is being involved in education in new and creative ways.
