Executive Director: Durham, NC

Emmy Griffin hails from Chapel Hill, NC and holds a B.A. in International Relations and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.  Emmy lived in Nicaragua in 2009 while she completed a successful internship with Sister Communities of San Ram贸n and Finca Esperanza Verde and then worked for the international education organization, Global Glimpse.  Emmy has a passion for international development, global education and certainly Latin America.  Recently Emmy returned to her roots to take the position as Executive Director in Durham, NC and she is excited about the potential for growth and development in San Ram贸n and within the organization!

Director: San Ram贸n

Zenelia Icabalceta is a native of Matagalpa, the biggest city near San Ram贸n, where she lives with her husband and 3 children.  Her favorite part about being the Director of Comunidades Hermanas is the Rural School Partnerships program where she gets to work with the kids, teachers and families in the rural communities!  Zenelia holds a University degree in Business Administration and Accounting and has almost 10 years of experience working for international development organizations in her beloved country of Nicaragua.

FEV General Manager

Alex van der Zee comes to Nicaragua from Cartagena, Columbia bringing with him an impressive track record of over 10 years work experience in Eco-tourism and coffee farming.  Alex studied hotel management in Spain and completed a Bachelor of Science in the US.  Alex is known for his business savy skills and his desire to make a big impact where he works.  He has impressive goals for increasing tourism and organic farming production at FEV this year!

Doris Sanchez

FEV Office Assistant

Doris Sanchez is a native of San Ram贸n and her family lives in the small town near FEV called Y煤cul where they own a corner store.  Doris first started working for FEV as a receptionist at the farm but with her hard work ethic and level of responsibility she is now the Office Assistant.  Doris is a major asset to the FEV team and when she's not working she likes to do things with her wonderful 9 year old daughter.
