SCSRN is a US-based non-profit organization that addresses the needs of one of Nicaragua’s poorest areas.
We support social and economic development projects in the rural mountainous county of San Ram贸n.
SCSRN’s work promotes people-to-people connections and supports projects that build friendship, understanding, justice and respect for the Earth.聽 Founded in 1993, SCSRN funds projects that are requested by and undertaken by the community in San Ramon. We have SCSRN chapters in Durham, Raleigh, Morehead City-Beaufort, and Chapel Hill, NC.
SCSRN is registered as a non-profit in both the USA and Nicaragua and we聽 maintain offices both in Durham, NC and in聽 San Ram贸n .聽 We are committed to a community driven model of development, so we work closely with our advisory committee and other stakeholders to identify, execute and evaluate our programs.
The county of San Ram贸n has a population of approximately 36,000 habitants聽 and consists of 72 rural primary schools.聽 Most people survive from raising cattle and growing cash crops such as coffee, corn and beans.聽 We work in the areas of Education, Healthcare, Cultural Enrichment and Environmental Preservation.
