Gloria is a physical therapist at Los Pipitos, a handicapped children鈥檚 center that SCSRN supports annually. 聽Gloria has been a physical therapist for over five years and she works diligently every week to help improve the lives of the physically and mentally handicapped children that come to the center from all over the rural municipality of San Ram贸n. 
With a warm smile, Gloria talks about what she feels is the most important benefit of Los Pipitos: creating awareness of the needs of handicapped children and empowering families to address them. Many families travel for up to a day to get to the center, where Gloria educates parents about their children’s needs and teaches them to do physical and cognitive exercises with their children at home, since it is not realistic for most families to go to the center daily.
Gloria 聽is also proud that the center has lessened the stigma surrounding children’s disabilities. 聽Her eyes light up聽when she explains how many families now attend the center, and how local public schools are integrating some handicapped children into the classroom. She says that people in San Ram贸n are much more understanding now that Los Pipitos has grown in both staff and beneficiaries, with the help of SCSRN.
